Ich habe selten ein Buch in Händen gehalten, das so viel mehr ist als nur Worte auf Papier. „Duende – Lorca’s Soul“ ist ein ganzes Universum: 225 Sonette, die wie ein Netz aus Feuer und Schatten zusammenhängen, dazu diese düster-schönen Zeichnungen, die man stundenlang betrachten könnte. Es geht um Spanien, um Flamenco, um den Schmerz der Geschichte – aber auch um diese seltsame, wilde Seele, die Lorca „Duende“ nannte. Man spürt förmlich, wie der Autor jahrelang an dem Werk gefeilt hat.

"Ein Kathedralenbau aus Sprache – und ein offenes Feuer"
Ich habe Duende – Gold Edition nicht „gelesen“, ich habe es ausgehalten. Danach roch die Luft nach Asche und Jasmin, und irgendwo in mir vibrierte noch immer ein Absatz auf Holz. Dieses Buch tut nicht so, als wäre Poesie Deko. Es ist ein Ereignis: 15 heroische Sonettenkronen (225 Sonette) plus Prolog, Epilog – und am Ende die „Krone der Kronen“, die aus den ersten Zeilen der vorigen Kronen ein letztes, verdichtetes Donnern formt. Form als Architektur, gebaut „wie eine Kathedrale“, in der jedes Sonett (4–4–3–3) das Feuer hält, das sonst alles verbrennen würde.
Gleich am Anfang stellt der Prolog die Regeln außer Kraft: „Dieses Buch endet nicht. Es lernt nur zu trauern.“ – und genau so liest es sich: als gierige, beharrliche Trauer, die nicht ruhen will. In der ersten Krone steht Lorcas duende plötzlich mitten im Raum, „kommt hinten rein“ und macht alles wahr: Tanz, Blut, Stimme, Stille. Später Spanien als Witwe, als Arena, als Meer, als Al-Andalus, als Archiv des Verschweigens; Franco als bleierner Traum; Lorca als offener Mund der Geschichte. Und mittendrin die Künstler – El Greco, Goya, Picasso, Gaudí – nicht als Zitatenschmuck, sondern als lebendige Gesprächspartner. Das alles wird nicht erklärt, es wird vollzogen: Man hört die „schwarzen Klänge“, man sieht, wie „der Vorhang brennt und die Narbe bleibt“.
Ja, die Bildwelt ist üppig, manchmal rauschhaft. Aber die Strenge der Form hält sie auf Kurs – wie ein Gewölbe, das genau so hoch ist, damit es nicht einstürzt. Ich habe oft pausiert, nicht aus Müdigkeit, sondern um weiterzuatmen. Am Ende blieb das, was das Epilog verspricht: eine Flamme im Brustbein, ein Schmerz mit Namen. Kein Buch zum Mögen. Ein Buch zum Überleben.
